Description

Saunders Lumbar Traction Device by Chattanooga®

Includes an actively moving treatment surface & patented pump/gauge. This unit effectively applies up to 200 lbs. of traction and has a friction-free surface which ensures smooth motion. Folds to only 23" x 24" x 3" for easy storage in its shipping/storage carton & weighs only 16 lbs. Users guide included.

Although the Saunders Lumbar Hometrac was designed for use at home by back pain sufferers, the professional quality and durability make it a wise choice for small clinical settings as well. Users easily control pressure by way of a pneumatic pump. The friction-free track creates a highly efficient, effective result; facilitating the use of less poundage while achieving better therapy than other, more expensive electronic traction units. Saunders design of both the thoracic and pelvic belts exerts less pressure as traction is applied; really improving comfort.

PHYSIOLOGY OF LUMBAR TRACTION
Correctly performed traction benefits the body in the following manner: Lumbar Traction for Disc Herniation

  1. Distraction or separation of the vertebral bodies
  2. Distraction and increased gliding motion of the weight-bearing facet joints
  3. Improved tensile strength of the ligamentous structures that stabilize the spine
  4. Widening of the intervertebral nerve spaces
  5. Straightening of excessive spinal curves
  6. Stretching of the spinal musculature with gentle release of scar tissue adhesions
  7. A decrease in intra-discal pressure, eliciting a suction of fluid into the disc and possible retraction of herniation from negative pressure. Overall, the process brings hydration and nutrients to the cartilage cells, aiding the healing process.

INDICATIONS FOR SPINAL TRACTION
Spinal traction has been used for treatment of the following conditions: Lumbar Traction indicated for Degenerative Discs

  • spinal nerve root impingement from: a) herniated disc; b) ligament encroachment; c) narrowing of the intervertebral foramen; d) osteophyte encroachment; e) spinal nerve root swelling; and f) certain types of spondylolisthesis.
  • joint hypomobility
  • degenerative joint disease
  • extrinsic muscle spasm and muscle guarding
  • discogenic or joint pain
  • Lumbar Facet Syndrome
  • compression fracture

CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR LUMBAR TRACTION
Traction should not be applied if there is knowledge or signs of infection, malignancy or any condition where movement is contraindicated. Acute strains, sprains, and inflammatory conditions may be aggravated by traction. Traction given to patients with hypermobility of the spine may cause further problems. We recommend that you discuss lumbar traction with your attending physician prior to use.

CA Residents Prop 65

WARNING: CANCER & REPRODUCTIVE HARM; PROP 65 WARNING INFO

Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. These chemicals can be in the products that Californians purchase, in their homes or workplaces, or th??at are released into the environment. By requiring that this information be provided, Proposition 65 enables Californians to make informed decisions about their exposures to these chemicals.

Are any businesses exempt from Proposition 65’s requirements?

YES. Businesses with less than 10 employees and government agencies are exempt from Proposition 65’s warning requirements and prohibition on discharges into drinking water sources.  Tartan Group is exempt from Proposition 65 requirements as our business has fewer than 10 employees, however, we feel that it is important to warn CA residents of the possibility that some of our products may contain chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.
